Always
· Detangle gently from the bottom working your way upwards towards the roots/lace
· Use warm water for all your wash processes
· Be gentle to your scalp
· Use shampoo 1 or twice a month for your wig (shampoo dries the hair – causing matting, tangling and shedding)
· Use a moisturizing conditioner (your wig needs moisture – your natural hair need protein)
· Deep condition your wig
· Wash, ring dry and comb/brush your wig in a downward motion
· Air dry your wig
You will need the following
· A basin/ sink
· A good shampoo
· A moisturizing conditioner
· A towel
· A hair brush with round endings
· A wide toothed wig comb
· A zip lock plastic bag
Preparing
· Select your tools- Use hair care products designed for lace wigs if possible.
· Prepare your work place
· Give yourself enough Time. (you can listen to a podcast/music )
Washing Your Human Hair Lace Wig
Step 1: Prep
· Fill the sink/basin with warm water
· Add shampoo to the water
· Brush/comb the wig- to remove any teasing or tangles
Step 2: Shampoo
· Put your wig in the shampoo solution
· Wash the wig gently in a downward motion – So that your cuticles remain aligned – Do Not swish or Swoosh the wig, it causes matting, tangling and shedding )
· Brush the wig- to allow shampoo to get through the hair
· Be gentle to your lace while washing it. Do NOT rub the hair or scalp as you would with your own
· Soak the wig in the shampoo solution for approximately 10mins
· Rinse the wig in a downward motion using warm water – Hold the front parting of your lace a you rinse
· Brush the hair again gently and ring the water off in a downward motion
Step 3: Conditioner
· Comb the Moisturizing conditioner through the damp hair from bottom to top using gentle downward strokes one section at a time. Avoid the scalp area as the conditioner can loosen the knots
· Let the wig sit for 30mins
· Or *** Recommended – Deep condition the wig***
· While the hair is wet and saturated with your wig conditioner Put the wig in the zip lock plastic bag
· Add a half a cup of water
· Then Microwave for approximately 1 min
· Let it cool for approximately 15mins
· Thoroughly rinse the conditioner from the hair with warm water in a downward motion and from the inside of the cap to remove excess Conditioner.
Step 4: Dry
· Gently squeeze excess water from the wig
· Lightly blot hair with a towel or roll the wig on the towel. Do Not rub, twist or wring
· Allow the wig to air dry naturally. Do Not dry your wig with a blow dryer. It can heat out and damage the hair and multi-skin top.
